The Footsteps
Ajia looked at her little brother, eyes filled with dread. He looked back, overwhelmed with fear. The sirens were deafening. They ran out the back door. They reached the edge of the forest. They were panting hard and feeling hot and sweaty but that didn't stop them. The footsteps from behind were getting closer. José tripped and fell. They were getting closer. Ajia urged him on. They quickly scaled a tree up to the green canopy where many species of monkey lived – all of which José could name. When the danger passed José fell asleep. Ajia smiled and told herself “That boy will be a brilliant scientist some day”.

Hi Conall,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your 100wc and could picture Ajia and Jose in my mind. I wondered what Jose did that made Ajia think her brother would be a great scientist? Was it to do with the monkeys and his knowledge of their environment?
